New Delhi, Sept 8, 2024: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval will visit Moscow this week to discuss the Russia-Ukraine conflict, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visits to Russia and Ukraine. During Modi’s trip, he met with leaders Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, and later spoke with Putin on August 27. The call focused on India’s commitment to a diplomatic resolution and led to the decision for Doval’s visit to Moscow.
The Russian Embassy reported that Putin emphasized Russia’s stance on Ukraine and its approaches to the conflict. The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that Modi shared insights from his visit to Ukraine and stressed the need for dialogue and diplomacy. Modi has reiterated India’s commitment to a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Putin has identified India, along with China and Brazil, as key partners in resolving the crisis. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also highlighted India’s potential role in the conflict resolution during her recent talks with President Zelensky.
