Nandini milk prices may go up by Rs 5 after Sankranti

Mangalore Today News Network

Bengaluru, December 27, 2024: Nandini milk prices may go up by Rs 5 per litre after Sankranti, with the Karnataka Milk federation (KMF) stating on Thursday that the chief minister will hold a meeting to discuss farmers’ demand.

Addressing a press conference here, KMF chairman Bheema Naik said discussions were on to withdraw the additional 50 ml of milk provided for an extra Rs 2. If the additional quantity (50 ml) is removed, the extra charge (Rs 2) will also be removed, he stated.

The chief minister will call a meeting after Sankranti with senior KMF officials to decide on these matters, he added. Speaking about the poor sales of Nandini dairy products in Delhi, the Congress MLA suggested that “some competitors are troubling us, but I do not want to take names. We want to compete in the market. Currently, we sell 15,000 litres of milk in Delhi daily and aim to reach anywhere between 1 lakh and 2 lakh litres in the next six months.”

He promised that the KMF would continue to sell in Delhi with the long-term daily target of 4 lakh to 5 lakh litres.

Naik said KMF also planned to market Nandini products in Jaipur. “The Shivamogga union is also expanding to Indore and Bhopal.”

Meanwhile, the whey protein-blended idli/dosa batter launched on December 25 will be available in all Nandini parlours in Bengaluru in the next three to four days, Naik said.

The KMF is also thinking of sponsoring the Royal Challengers Bengaluru IPL team.
