Jaipur, April 22, 2015: Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi will on Wednesday present a chadar on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinduddin Chisti.
"The chadar will be offered at the Ajmer dargah tomorrow and the message of the Prime Minister would be read out thereafter," Naqvi, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs had said on Tuesday.
According to an official release, the Prime Minister greeted the people on the occasion of the annual Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.
He said India has been a land of sages, saints and prophets for thousands of years.
Recalling Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti’s message of amity to his followers, Modi said it continued to be relevant.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi also handed over chadar to be offered at the dargah, a party release said. She handed over the chaadar to party leaders at her residence in the capital.
The 803rd Urs (annual festival) of the revered Sufi saint began on Monday.
