Ahmedabad, December 21, 2015: Former BJP general secretary Sanjay Joshi met former Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel in Ahmedabad today. What transpired in the 20-minute long meeting between the two Gujarat BJP leaders has not been revealed but insiders are considering the latest development as an important one.
Recently, posters were put up across Ahmedabad and other parts of the state demanding Joshi’s return in the BJP after the party’s dismal show in the state civic polls.
Posters with slogans like "Bring Sanjay Joshi, save BJP" and "Kaho dilse, Sanjay Joshi firse" were found in Surat.
In June, hoarding attributed to Sanjay Joshi had appeared outside the houses of top BJP leaders like LK Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Amit Shah. The hoardings were severely critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
One such hoarding said, "You greet Pakistan and Muslims on Ramzan. But, in your mind you want to finish Sushma, Advani, Gadkari, Rajnath etc. Why should the people of India trust you?"
Joshi, once considered to be a close confidant of Modi, had to quit from BJP’s general secretary post after a CD of him having sex with a woman appeared in 2005. Joshi, an old RSS functionary, came to Ahmedabad in 1988-89 from Maharashtra RSS to join the BJP
Joshi became BJP general secretary in 1998 and later went on to become party’s national general secretary in 2001. Joshi was credited with BJP’s win in Assembly elections in several states.
