Nation bids goodbye to super cop Himanshu Roy, cremation held at Chandanwadi in Mumbai

Mumbai, May 12, 2018 : The mortal remains of Former Maharashtra ATS Chief Himanshu Roy arrived at Chandanwadi in Mumbai for cremation on May 11, as reported by ANI.

The cremation was held at 10 pm on 11 May at Chandanwadi crematorium in Mumbais Marine Lines.

Himanshu Roy had committed suicide on May 11. According to the Mumbai Police, the Former ATS chief had said in a one-page suicide note that he took his life because of his battle with cancer.

Roy shot himself with his service revolver at his residence in south Mumbai between 1 pm and 1.15 pm on May 11.

When he killed himself, his wife was said to be in the house. The officer was in his bedroom, wrote the note, placed the revolver in his mouth, and pulled the trigger. His wife rushed him to a hospital in his car, but he was declared brought dead.

Roy had said in his note that no one was responsible for his decision to commit suicide.

Himanshu Roy, who handled a number of high-profile cases including those related to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and IPL spot-fixing, would leave a deep impact on people with his dramatic moustache, rippling muscles, and a rich baritone, before cancer took its toll.

Roy was an alumnus of St Xaviers College, Mumbai. He had also worked as a CA at Arthur Andersen, one of the best accounting firms in the world, before he cleared the UPSC examination and joined the IPS.
