Nimbalkar’s transfer reeks of suspicion, says Shettar

Bengaluru, Jan 06, 2015: Opposition BJP leader Jagadish Shettar on Monday questioned the Congress government’s motive behind transferring DIG Hemant Nimbalkar, the investigator in the IS Twitter handler Mehdi Masroor Biswas case.

The decision to transfer Nimbalkar reeks of suspicion as it comes at a time when he was probing Mehdi’s alleged links with the terrorist organisation, Shettar told reporters.

“The Congress has always played vote-bank politics. When the investigating officer is transferred, it looks as if it is trying to dilute the investigation. I urge the State government to revoke Nimbalkar’s transfer and reinstate him,” he said.

Earlier, Shettar criticised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for questioning the CBI’s clean chit to BJP national president Amit Shah in the fake encounters case.

“It ill behoves a man sitting in the chief minister’s chair to question the decisions taken by the CBI and the judiciary,” Shettar said.

JD(S) floor leader H D Kumaraswamy expressed his disappointment over Shah’s Bengaluru sojourn. He said that despite Shah’s meeting with the BJP leaders in the State, there appeared to be no change in their attitude.

“When Shah came to Bengaluru, I expected that the BJP leaders would speak to him and apprise him of the concerns in Karnataka. However, it seems that they are busy only in discussing party-building and strengthening their cadre,” he said.
