New Delhi, Jan 13, 2023: Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi appeared before Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Friday and recorded her statement in connection with the Rs 215 crore extortion case against jailed ’conman’ Sukesh Chandrashekhar. Fatehi’s statement would serve as evidence and she would be regarded as a witness in the case at hand.

Previously, Fatehi refuted all allegations and said she had nothing to do with the extortion case. She claimed that she had no contact with Sukesh Chandrashekhar, only through his wife, Leena Maria Paul.

Nora’s statement was recorded under section 164 (recording of confessions and statements) of the CrPC. Earlier, Nora Fatehi’s statement was recorded by the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police.

The Delhi Police had earlier said that Nora Fatehi had no direct connection with Jacqueline Fernandez, who had also been linked with Sukesh Chandrashekhar. She was earlier called to be questioned together with Pinky Irani.

Along with a probe by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing officers asked Nora Fatehir about an event she had attended in Chennai in December 2020. During her previous interrogation, she was asked about her chats with Sukesh Chandrashekhar and their association.

Nora Fatehi had told the officials that the booking for the event was done through her agency, Exceed Entertainment Pvt Ltd. The event was organised by LS Corporation and Nail Artistry (an entity of Sukesh’s wife Leena Maria Paul). It was held in the banquet hall of a hotel sometime around December 2020.

Speaking about the contentious event, the actor told the police, “The event went off well. Leena met me and gave me a Gucci bag and an iPhone. She said ’my husband is a big fan, he can’t meet you but you can speak to him on the phone’. She put him on the speaker. He thanked me and said they are big fans. She then announced they are going to give me a new BMW car as a token of love and generosity."

"Later, a person who identified himself as Shekhar called me and I forwarded Bobby, my cousin’s husband’s number for any further dealings. Shekhar took the number," Fatehi said.

Nora also said that she had told Bobby that he should tell Shekhar that Nora didn’t need a BMW as she already had one. Bobby allegedly told Shekhar on the phone that Nora did not need a BMW. However, Shekhar said that he was fine with it and instead offered this BMW to Bobby.

The BMW was registered under Bobby’s name.

Nora Fatehi has also submitted copies of screenshots of her chats with Sukesh to probe agencies.

According to the police, Nora Fatehi received gifts from the alleged conman as the proceeds of the crime. She was also part of an event in Chennai which had links to a crime syndicate. Earlier, the police had said there were some questions that needed to be answered and an investigation was underway to ascertain the links and people involved in the conspiracy.

According to the police, Nora Fatehi claimed she did not have any idea that the Chennai event, where she was called, had links with this crime.

On the other hand, the Enforcement Directorate has said that actresses Nora Fatehi and Jacqueline Fernandez received luxury cars, amongst other expensive gifts from Chandrasekar. The agency is probing the money trail in the extortion case.

Sukesh Chandrasekar is accused of cheating various people, including some high-profile individuals, such as former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh’s wife Aditi Singh.
