PM Modi, Rajnath Singh visit veteran BJP leader LK Advani on his 95th birthday

New Delhi, Nov 08, 2022: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited veteran BJP leader and Former Deputy Prime Minister, LK Advani, at his Delhi residence to wish him on his 95th birthday.

PM Modi spent around 30 minutes at the senior leader’s residence and had a chat with him. He also greeted the veteran politician with a bouquet of roses.

Lal Krishna Advani, who began his political career as a volunteer of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, was born in 1927. Advani is one of the co-founders of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He also served as Minister of Home Affairs in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government from 1998 to 2004. He was the Leader of the Opposition in the 10th Lok Sabha and 14th Lok Sabha and also the longest-serving person in this post. He is widely considered the architect of Hindutva politics and was the power centre of the BJP in 1990s. He was a prime ministerial candidate of the BJP in 2009.

 


PM Modi gave a sneak peek into his meeting and took to Twitter, writing, "Went to Advani Ji’s residence and wished him on his birthday. His contribution to India’s growth is monumental. He is respected all across India for his vision and intellect. His role in building and strengthening the BJP is unparalleled. I pray for his long and healthy life."

 


Sharing pictures of his visit, Rajnath Singh took to Twitter and wrote, “Visited respected Advaniji’s residence and wished him a happy birthday. I pray to God for his good health and long life.”

 


He also wrote, “Many wishes to the revered Lal Krishna Advani ji on his birthday. He is counted among the tallest figures of Indian politics. He has made a very important contribution in the development journey of the country, society and the party. I wish him good health and long life”
