New Delhi, Oct 19, 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday spoke to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. PM Modi conveyed his condolences on the loss of civilian lives in the bombing at a Gaza hospital.

Amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, PM Modi said that India would continue to send humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.

“Shared our deep concern at the terrorism, violence and deteriorating security situation in the region. Reiterated India’s long-standing principled position on the Israel-Palestine issue,” PM Modi said after he spoke to the Palestinian Authority President.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas has continued to escalate after the terrorist group launched a surprise attack on October 7. In response, Israel declared war on Hamas and launched retaliatory air strikes, targetting Hamas operatives and its bases in the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, an explosion at a hospital in Gaza, which reportedly killed hundreds of civilians, has drawn strong condemnation from world leaders. While Hamas alleged that an Israeli air strike caused the tragic explosion, the Israeli military denied having a hand in the incident.

Expressing shock over the tragic loss of lives in an attack on the Gaza hospital, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said, "Civilian casualties in the ongoing conflict are a matter of serious and continuing concern. Those involved should be held responsible."
