Varanasi, Sep 23, 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid the foundation stone of an international cricket stadium in Varanasi. In his parliamentary constituency, the Prime Minister also addressed a rally of women supporters and spoke about the women’s reservation bill passed by Parliament.
This will be Uttar Pradesh’s third international cricket stadium after Kanpur and Lucknow.
According to news agency PTI, PM Modi will also inaugurate 16 newly constructed Atal Residential Schools in the city, where he will reach by air at 1.30 pm.
Later, the Prime Minister will reach the Rudraksh Centre where he will inaugurate 16 newly constructed Atal Residential Schools.

Addressing a rally after laying the foundation stone of Varanasi’s international cricket stadium, PM Modi said -
* Today I got another chance to visit Varanasi. The joy we get on visiting Kashi is unparalleled.
* One Shiv Shakti point is on the Moon, one is in Kashi, and today, I once again congratulate the countrymen on India’s victory (on Chandrayaan-3’s success).
* Today, the foundation stone for an international cricket stadium in Varanasi was laid. This is going to be a blessing for the youth of Purvanchal.
* The whole world is getting connected with India through cricket. New countries are now coming forward to play cricket.
* This stadium in the city of ’Mahadev’ will be dedicated to ’Mahadev’ himself. The sportspersons here will benefit from the construction of an international stadium in Kashi. This stadium will become the star of the Purvanchal region.
* The success India is witnessing in sports is evidence of the change in outlook towards sports. The government is helping sportspersons at every level.

* Varanasi’s international cricket stadium will be built on Rs 121 crore land.
* An approximate Rs 330 crore will be spent on the construction of the cricket stadium, the Uttar Pradesh government said in a press statement.
* The stadium will accommodate nearly 30,000 people at a time.
* The roof covers will be crescent-shaped, floodlights shaped like a trident, patterns resembling bel leaves, and one of the structures shaped like a ’damru’.
* The design of the international cricket stadium in Varanasi will depict the "essence of Kashi", the press statement read.
* The spectators’ gallery of the stadium will resemble the steps of the ghats of Varanasi.
* Situated near the Ring Road in the Rajatalab area, it is likely to be ready by December 2025, the press statement read.
