PM Narendra Modi Begins His Palestine, UAE, Oman Tour From Today

New Delhi, Feb 08, 2018 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on three-nation visit of United Arab Emirates, Oman and Palestine on Friday. In a series of tweets ahead of his tour, PM Modi said that the West Asian region remains a top priority for India. In the first leg of his West Asia tour, PM Modi will reach UAE on Friday where he will be holding talks with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.

 

PM Modi highlighted that energy security and infrastructural investments in India will be on top of the agenda during his meetings with the UAE’s leadership.”There will be interactions with leading UAE and Arab CEOs in Dubai on the vast economic opportunities in India and what more can be done together to increase business collaboration,” the prime minister said in a series of tweets.

“It is a matter of even greater happiness that new Government-to-Government and business-to-business initiatives promise to add even more strength and depth to the bilateral cooperation in various areas of economic activity,” Modi said.

PM Modi will also address the Indian diaspora both in UAE and Oman, which has a population of 3 million non-resident Indians. “The Indian diaspora is a bridge of friendship between India and the Gulf countries,” PM Modi added.

“In both Oman and the UAE, I will have the opportunity to meet the large Indian diasporas that have made those countries their home. More than 9 million Indians work and live in the Gulf region, of which about one third live in the UAE alone. In Oman, they constitute the largest expatriate community,” Modi said.

“The Indian diaspora is a bridge of friendship between India and the Gulf states. They are also active participants in the prosperity and progress of their host countries,” he added.
 

Noting that this would be the first-ever prime ministerial visit to Palestine from India, Modi said he was looking forward to his discussions with President Mahmoud Abbas and reaffirming India’s support for the Palestinian people and the development of Palestine

Modi said his visit will begin from Palestine on February 10 after transiting through Jordan.
