New Delhi, June 02, 2016: In a major embarrassment for the Moroccan authorities, a map showing Pakistan as part of India was put on display at a University where the Indian Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari was supposed to deliver a speech on Wednesday.
The Vice President is on an official visit to Morocco and Tunisia.
In preparation of the Vice President’s visit to Mohammad V University in Rabat, hoardings had been put up showing the map of Morocco on one side and the map of India on the other. On the India map, Pakistan was shown as a part of India.
This error was noticed moments before Ansari was scheduled to arrive for his speech at the University.
Indian officials intervened and the ’expanded’ Indian map with Pakistan on it was covered with white tape.
The vice president is on his official visit to Morocco and Tunisia until June 3.
Asked about India’s cooperation with Morocco and Tunisia in tackling terrorism, Ansari said that New Delhi continued to work closely to share intelligence and security-related information with other countries.
He said, "Sharing real-time cyber security related information is crucial in the efforts to tackle terrorism."
