Passangers bag with valuables worth Rs 50,000 returned by Auto driver

Mumbai, May 09, 2016: In an exemplary show of honesty, an auto-rickshaw driver returned a bag containing valuables worth Rs 50,000 to a passenger in Malwani area on Saturday.


rickshaw.Bhandup resident Amit Nair who works as a materials manager in private firm had hired an auto-rickshaw around 10am on Saturday from Malwani. The passenger got down at the fire brigade junction in Malwani from where he took a taxi but had left his bag in the auto.

The bag contained an Ipad, a Samsung tablet and other gadgets worth around Rs 50,000. Nair realised after few minutes that he had left his bag in the auto and quickly instructed the cabbie to go to the Malwani police station.

While Nair was narrating the incident, the autorickshaw driver, Jairam Ashok Kharwal, 27, reached the police station with the bag and handed it over to the cops.

“All the valuables were intact. The auto driver’s honesty is highly laudable and we are planning to reward him,” said senior inspector Milind Khetle of Malwani police station.
