Pilot Killed as army helicopter crashes in J&Ks Gurez border; rescue operations underway

Srinagar, Mar 11, 2022: An Indian Army’s Cheetah helicopter on Friday crashed in the Baraum area of Gurez sector of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. The pilot has been found dead, while the co-pilot was rescued in an injured condition and has been rushed to a hospital.

The incident occurred when the helicopter was about to land but “drifted away" due to inclement weather conditions. The crash took place near Gujran Nallah in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Rescue teams have been despatched on foot, while air reconnaissance teams are looking for survivors, the officials said. Further details are awaited.
