Pink WhatsApp scam has got Android users worried, know what it is and how to stay safe

New Delhi, June 27, 2023: A new WhatsApp scam has got people worried. The scammers are now trying to gain access of innocent users by spreading a hoax message that promises a new pink version of the app with exciting new features. However, this message is a scam, and clicking on the link in the message can lead to your device being hacked. Notably, WhatsApp should only be downloaded from legitimate sources like the Google Play Store and App Store.

The Mumbai Police have issued a warning about the Pink WhatsApp scam, and they have provided some tips on how to protect yourself:

--Do not click on links from unknown sources. If you receive a message from someone you don’t know that contains a link, do not click on it. Even if the message appears to be from someone you do know, be careful before clicking on any links.

--Only install apps from official sources. You should only install apps from the official Google Play Store or Apple App Store. If you download an app from an unofficial source, there is a risk that it could contain malware.

--Be careful what information you share online. Do not share your personal or financial information online, such as your login credentials, passwords, or credit card details. This information could be used by scammers to steal your identity or commit fraud.
