Bangalore, June 29, 2012: The Karnataka government of DV Sadananada Gowda was plunged into a fresh crisis on Friday with nine ministers loyal to former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa resigning from the government demanding a change in the chief ministership.

Yeddyurappa has been leading a rebellion against state government and demanding that his loyalist Jagadish Shettar should be the Chief Minister of Karnataka replacing Gowda.

This came hours after as many as 10 ministers loyal to the former chief minister had threatened to resign from the state Cabinet by Friday evening.

The ministers had demanded that the Central leadership should take a call on the change in chief ministership and replace Sadanand Gowda with Yeddrurappa’s man Jagadish Shettar.

The move by the loyalists of the former chief minister comes a day after the BJP leadership sought more time to resolve the crisis in the state.

According to sources, the BJP high command has asked Chief Minister Sadanand Gowda to not accept the resignations of the ministers.

The BJP leadership has also spoken to both the factions. Karnataka state in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan will also be travelling to Bangalore on Saturday.

Gowda had earlier asked leadership whether he should accept the resignations of eight ministers from the Yeddyurappa camp.

The ministers who have resigned from the Karnataka Cabinet are: Jagadish Shettar, CM Udassi, Bassavaraj Bommai, Umesh Katti, Renukacharya, V Somanna, Murugesh Nirani, Raju Gowda and RN Bellmagi.
