Jordan, May 25, 2014: The world media has widely applauded Pope Francis’ arrival in Jordan on May 24, launching a three-day trip to the Middle East which was eagly awaited. This trip is expected to see him get a good first hand look at the plight of Syrian refugees and witness the toll the civil war is taking there reports say. On the Papal flight , the pope spoke cordially to journalists that the trip he said, would be “Challenging,but rewarding. My heart beats and is looking to deeply love the suffering”.
Despite a cold and fatigue that forced him to cancel some recent appointments, Francis seemed in fine health on the flight and greeted each reporter traveling with him, one-by-one, and posed for “selfie”photographs. Pope Francis blessed Palestinian reporter Imad Freij aboard the papal flight to Amman,Jordan on May 24.
The Vatican expects some 25,000 people to attend, many of them Palestinian, Syrian and Iraqi refugees.
