Pregnant cow slaughtered in Karnataka; Siddaramaiah govt ’taking matter seriously’

Mangalore Today News Network

Uttara Kannada, January 20, 2025: The alleged slaughter of a pregnant cow in the Salkoda village in Uttara Kannada district has left locals outraged.

Reportedly, the cow had gone missing after grazing on Friday, and its owner found the bovine creature beheaded and decapitated, while its unborn calf was removed from the womb, mutilated, and dumped elsewhere.

Speaking on the incident, Karnataka minister K Venkatesh told news agency ANI, "I have seen the news, and whoever is responsible for this must be punished. This is not something that people with humanity would do."

"The government is taking this matter very seriously, such acts should not happen, and I strongly condemn it. I haven’t spoken to the SP yet, but I have discussed the matter with the CM, and he will be speaking to the SP," he added.

This comes a week after the udders of three cows were found to have been severed in Bengaluru, sparking protests by the BJP.
