New Delhi, June 09, 2014: President Pranab Mukherjee will list the priorities of Narendra Modi-led NDA government when he will address a joint sitting of Parliament on Monday.
The President’s address beginning at 11 am in the Central Hall of Parliament will lay the roadmap of the new government.
A key focus area of the new government is to nurse the economy back into high growth mode besides tackling price rise and inflation. Measures to address other issues like job creation, rejuvenating core sectors and ushering in industrial development in the country, besides attracting foreign investment are also likely to figure in the President’s address.
Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will have separate sittings 30 minutes after the conclusion of the address and the Secretaries General of both the Houses will table a copy of the speech.
The Parliamentarians will then hold a discussion on the presidential address in the form of the ‘Motion of Thanks’.
Prime Minister Naarendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will intervene during the discussion on Motion of Thanks in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha respectively.
On behalf of the ruling party, while BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi will initiate the discussion in Rajya Sabha, party General Secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy will do so in the Lok Sabha.
Yesterday Prime Minister Modi said, “The need of the hour is to think big. The more we focus on skill, scale and speed, more will be the increase in India’s growth trajectory."
