New Delhi, sept 26: Gujarat Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi fans’ new target is the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Raghuram Rajan.
Rajan, who has now become a favourite of the Page 3 is facing the wrath of Modi supporters for declaring Gujarat a less developed state, that too a 12th rank in overall development.
In his earlier avatar as the chief economic advisor to the Prime Minister, Rajan headed a panel to evaluate the overall performance of all 28 states in India. His report, released on Thursday claims that Gujarat is behind Six Congress ruled states including Karnataka, Maharashtra and Kerala. It has not gone down well with Modi supporters, who want the entire country to believe that Modi is the ultimate solution to all our problems.
As usual, a war of tweets has broken out between Modi supporters and his critics. VCS tweeted that on ground development in Gujarat proves that the Raghuram Rajan report is wrong and even described Modi critics as nuts.
VCS @vcs72 @dpsatishcnnibn - You guys are nuts. Not seeing the reality on ground
Another fan dismissed it as a farce.
Sanjeev @badrienvirons - @sanjaysaini1 @VishwaNathTripa @ShishirChandrol :)
I know this report is a farce. Next they will start pinpointing Gujarat. -
Modi critics gleefully welcomed the report and started tweeting immediately after the report was made public. Noted writer Salil Tripathi was one of the first to tweet, "congratulating" Gujarat, though sarcastically.
Salil Tripathi @saliltripathi - Congratulations to Gujarat for coming 12th out of 28 states under CDIS: http://pib.nic.in/newsite/erelease.aspx?relid=99675 ...
Congress supporter Pawan Khera also ridiculed Modi for touring the country neglecting heavy floods in Gujarat. Many areas in Gujarat have been affected by heavy rain and floods.
Pawan Khera @Pawankhera - While Modi is busy promoting himself all through the country, there are major floods in Gujarat. Modiji, kuch din toh bitaao Gujarat mein.
Farhan Khan tweeted warning Raghuram Rajan that he may have to face the ire of Modi, if he becomes the Prime Minister for downgrading his Gujarat model. Farhan Khan @Farhan222
@ShealjaSharma @dpsatishcnnibn wait rajan wait let Feku come to power.
Modi, who is on an ambitious Southern mission to sell his Gujarat model ahead of Lok Sabha polls, preferred to speak about Indo-Pak peace talk, terror attack in Jammu and corruption.
