Rahul Gandhi targets Modi in Parliament: PM should go to Punjab to see farmers’ plight

Mangalore Today News Network

New Delhi, April 29, 2015: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday launched yet another attack on the NDA government in Parliament, accusing the Centre of ignoring the plight of the farmers and asking PM Narendra Modi to visit the affected areas.

rahul"Modiji loves to go places in India and abroad. He can go to Punjab too and meet the farmers there. He will understand their problems," Rahul said in Lok Sabha a day after he took a train from New Delhi to Punjab to meet the farmers there.

"Don’t farmers do Make In India? Why isn’t the government listening to the people who provide us food grains," the 44-year-old leader said, repeating his jibe at Modi’s pet slogan.

Responding to the remarks, an agitated SAD’s Harsimrat Kaur Badal, also the Minister of Food Processing, said, "I am from Punjab and I understand their problems. When unseasonal rains and storm had destroyed the crops of the farmers, Rahul Gandhi was vacationing in some corner of the world."

Kaur was soon followed by a clarification by Food Minister Ramvilas Paswan. "We are doing what the UPA government could not do for the farmers," he said.
