Rahul gandhiNew Delhi, Dec 24, 2015:  Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi today demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi order an inquiry into allegations of corruption in the Delhi cricket body - DDCA - and take action. He hit out at PM Modi on his "silence" over the alleged corruption.

"When Modi ji was campaigning, he said that he will neither indulge in corruption nor let anyone do it...But, today his own MP has pointed out at corruption, but Modiji is silent," Mr Gandhi said in Amethi, his Parliamentary constituency. "He should order for an inquiry and must take action on this."

Mr Gandhi’s reaction came a day after the BJP suspended its Darbhanga MP and former cricketer Kirti Azad for his attack on Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over alleged corruption in the Delhi District and Cricket Association, which Mr Jaitley headed for 13 years. The BJP’s action against Mr Azad saw rival political parties hit out at the party and the Modi government.

The BJP dismissed Mr Gandhi’s criticism. "Mr Jaitley got a clean chit during the UPA’s tenure. Rahul Gandhi should remember that. The allegations are false and foolish," BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said. "Rahul Gandhi should introspect. He has committed fraud and got bail in the National Herald matter."

AAP leader Ashutosh said this morning that the suspension "proves that BJP is on the side of the corrupt. Instead of questioning Jaitley, they suspend Azad." He used the opportunity to hit out at PM Modi. "PM should never again say ’na khata hoon, na khane deta hoon," the AAP leader said.
