Mangalore, Jan 18, 2012: As heavy rains and snow continued to lash North India on Friday, the Meteorological department said the weather is expected to continue for the next 24 hours and fog will return. "This weather is likely to continue for the next 24 hrs. Fog condition in Delhi and northern parts will be back from Saturday morning," M Durai Swamy of the MeT department said.
He also said that the minimum temperature is likely to dip by 2 to 4 degrees from January 19 to January 22. The Met department added that snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir is likely to continue for 48 hours.
Delhi and other parts of North India witnessed heavy rainfall and a hailstorm on Thursday night and Friday morning. The city, which received light showers during the day, started getting rains at around 11.00 pm. Some parts of Delhi also witnessed hailstorms, bringing the temperature down by a few notches.
Meanwhile, snowfall in the Kashmir valley blocked the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on Thursday. Authorities issued an avalanche warning in the area. Sources said that various areas in the valley were suffering from a 12 to 13 hour power cut.
