Rajasthan: Several vehicles collide due to low visibility on NH-8 in Alwar

Rajasthan, Jan 02, 2020:  Several vehicles collided due to low visibility, caused by foggy weather conditions on National Highway 8 in Dooghera village near Alwar today. Around a dozen people were injured and shifted to a hospital in Neemrana for treatment, timesnow news reported.

The accident took place in the wee hours today and as per the initial reports, the visibility was less than 100 metres. The vehicles have been cleared and the NH8 highway is now opened for traffic.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a Rajasthan roadways bus overturned after hitting a divider while moving through a flyover near Bhikaji Cama Place here on Wednesday.

"A call was received by the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) control room that a bus has overturned in front of the Hyatt hotel. As many as three fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The bus was not carrying any passenger when the incident took place," said a police official.

During the treatment, the driver survived, however, the conductor succumbed to his injuries.

As many as 21 trains are running late due to low visibility in the Northern Railway region.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperatures have increased by 3-4 degrees Celsius over most parts of Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan and at isolated places over Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, west Madhya Pradesh in the last 24 hours.

In Delhi, the minimum temperature on Tuesday night increased to 6 degrees Celsius from 2 degrees Celsius for a couple of hours, however, in the morning today, the minimum temperature plunged to 2.5 degrees Celsius.

Delhi’s Palam area recorded a temperature of 7.8 degree Celsius, while Safdarjung area recorded a temperature of 5.8 degree Celsius at 5.30 am, said IMD in its weather bulletin. 

The IMD has said that fog conditions have significantly improved over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, North Rajasthan, North Madhya Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh.

Under the influence of low-level easterlies, dense fog conditions are unlikely to prevail over these regions during the next 3-4 days, it said.
