Rajasthan , Dec 11, 2017 : Several people had expressed disgust and horror at the brutal Rajsamand killing in which a man hacked another person and later burnt his body allegedly as revenge for ’love jihad’.
However, there are some who are reveling in the act and attempting to glorify the heinous crime.
Messages sent in a WhatsApp group have surfaced which attempt to laud Shambulal Raigar, the accused in the horrific killing case, and warned that those who attempt ’love jihad’ will be met with same fate.
Several BJP leaders are a part of the group in which such messages were sent.
The group admin, Prem Mali, is a local BJP worker. The group also has Kiran Maheshwai, senior BJP leader and minister in the Vasundhara Raje Government and BJP MP Hariom Singh Rathore as members.
One of the group members, Rakesh Ladda, demanding release of Shambulal, sought assistance of minimum Rs 500 from those who support Shambulal.
One of the messages reads, "Love Jihadiyon saavdhan jaag utha hai Shambu Laal Jai Shri Ram".
Another message reads that Sukhdev Singh will fight Shambulal’s case.
"Swachh Rajsamand Swacch Bharat Group made by us has been made to take Government of India’s cleanliness campaign to the people. We had included officials, alert journalists in it. The administration had shut down internet after the incident that had happened here. But some anti-social elements in this group went onto the internet (enabled) area and forwarded wrong message in this group. When I saw it, I felt that it was not right. I removed those members. None of the people’s representatives commented in it", Prem Mali, WhatsApp group admin mentioned.
The group admin later removed those who had sent messages supporting Shambulal.
In the video of Shambulal Raigar that surfaced, it can be seen that initially the perpetrator hits the man killed with an agricultural equipment, then pours some inflammable liquid on his body and burns it. In the video, Raigar can be seen mentioning that those who indulge in ’love jihad’ will be met with same fate.
