New Delhi, Mar 31, 2021: Passengers at Delhi Airport arriving from the states witnessing a Covid surge will be tested randomly from today and "those found positive shall be mandatorily quarantined," the government has said. The move will be followed next at railway stations and bus stations.
"District Disaster Management Authorities shall conduct random COVID-19 testing of passengers coming from the states where the cases are increasing," an official statement reads.
After collection of samples, the travellers will be allowed to exit, it added. However, "those passengers who are found positive shall be mandatorily quarantined as per the protocol of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare," it stressed.
The city’s tally surged to 6,60,611 total infections after 995 new infections were recorded in the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry data this morning showed.
