Chandigarh, Mar 17, 2022: Punjab government has decided to launch a helpline on March 23 for citizens to report matters related to corruption. CM Bhagwant Mann took to Twitter to make the announcement a day after he was sworn in as the 17th chief minister of Punjab.

"On the day of the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, we will launch an anti-corruption helpline number. This will be my personal WhatsApp number," CM Bhagwant Mann wrote.

He added, "If anyone demands a bribe from you, record an audio/video clip of them and send it to me. Strict action will be taken against those found guilty. Corruption will no longer have legs to walk on in Punjab."

Sworn in as the MLA from Dhuri in Punjab Legislative Assembly on Thursday, Bhagwant Mann said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government will bring a new change in Punjab for which the people have chosen them.

"Our government will be known as the most honest government of Punjab," he said.

CM Bhagwant Mann also said, "99 per cent of the people are honest and it is only because of the remaining 1 per cent that the system is disturbed. I will always stand with honest officers. There will be no more extortion in Punjab. No minister will trouble any official for hafta vasooli."

Arvind Kejriwal, upon the completion of 50 days in office in April 2015, re-launched an anti-corruption helpline ’1031’.

The AAP had promised a dedicated helpline to root out corruption in its manifesto for the assembly elections.

One call handler trained to handle the helpline had told a news agency that any Delhi resident could refer to the helpline to register a complaint against a government officer demanding a bribe."Within 48 hours, a member of the anti-corruption branch will contact you and collect your evidence for further investigation," the handler had said.
