New Delhi, February 19, 2025: The power tussle within the ruling Congress seems to be intensifying with each passing day.
Home Minister G Parameshwara on Tuesday met Congress general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal and is learnt to have demanded that a new state unit president be appointed, replacing D K Shivakumar before the elections to local bodies.
He suggested that replacing Shivakumar and appointing a leader from the backward classes would be beneficial to the party in the coming zilla and taluk panchayat polls, party sources said.
‘BC leader should be CM’
Parameshwara, identified with CM Siddaramaiah’s camp, also strongly argued on selecting a leader from the backward sections for the CM’s post, if the party wanted to change the leadership as per the rumoured ‘power-sharing’ agreement.
