SDPI is Indian version of Islamic State: Kerala CPIM chief

Kerala, Jul 19,2018 : Kerala’s CPI(M) chief alleges that the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) is the Indian version of the Islamic State (IS). Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s sharp remarks comes days after a Student’s Federation of India (SFI) activist was killed inside a college campus in Kochi.

 

It was alleged that the SFI activist was killed by people having associations with SDPI or PFI (Popular Front of India).

Speaking to the media in Thiruvananthapuram, Balakrishnan said, "SDPI is a version of IS in India. IS attacks the Muslims also, similarly SDPI’s attack is also against Muslims. SDPI is the enemy if Muslims in India."

Balakrishnan said that RSS and SDPI are two sides of the same coin. He also said that SDPI is the RSS among Muslims.

The SDPI, PFI, Campus Front and NDF have been facing a lot of heat after the murder of SFI activist and student Abhimanyu.

The state police carried out extensive searches in many offices of SDPI and PFI. Over 600 activists belonging to these organisations have been charged with various sections.

Interestingly, Balakrishnan also condemned the attack on Shashi Tharoor’s office in Thiruvananthapuram.

"The attack agaisnt Tharoor is condemnable. Attacking the office of an MP for expressing his opinion shows sangh parivar’s intolerance."

However, he criticised Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi for not supporting Tharoor.

"Even Rahul Gandhi did not give support to Tharoor’s statement. Because of this it reached a stage where his office was attacked. This is because of the soft Hindutva stand taken by the central leadership of Congress. Sitaram Yechury had also made similar comment inside the parliament," said Balakrishnan.
