Bangalore, May 6, 2013: Students who topped the SSLC examinations, the results of which were announced on Monday, attribute their success to hard work and support from teachers, parents and siblings.
Sudheendra M S, who occupied the first place in examinations, has a scored an unimaginable 622 out of 625. A student of Vijaya High School near South End Circle in Bangalore, he got 125 out of 125 in Sanskrit, 98 out of 100 in English, 99 out of 100 in Kannada and 100 out of 100 in Mathematics, Science and Social Science.
Three students, all of whom scored 621 out of 625, have occupied the second place. Nagarjuna K of Holy Child High School, Bangalore scored 97 in English, 124 in Sanskrit and 100 in Mathematics, Science, Social Science and Kannada.
Prerana M R, of Adichunchanagiri High School, Shimoga scored 98 in Science, 99 in Social Science, 99 in Kannada and cent percent in Sanskrit, English and Mathematics papers. Speaking to Deccan Herald, Prerana said, “Though I was confident that I would get good marks, I had not expected the second place. I used to get up early and study for three hours daily. The revision of syllabus more than once in school helped me a lot.”
Manvitha M K, of Vishwamangala English High School, Mangalore, who scored 100 in Mathematics and Social Science also juggled her strict study routine with drawing and dancing. “Hard work is something that I live by. I want to become a doctor,” she said
Rohini D V of Sri Kumaran Children’s Home, Bangalore, Rohini R of St Thomas English School, Bangalore, Rakshatha Handral of Kumaran’s High School, Bangalore and Supriya M L of St Paul’s Convent, Davangere and Ruthvik S of Vijaya High School, Hassan, all secured the third position with scores of 620 out of 625.
Supriya is the first in her family to study in an English medium school. Her father Lokesh M V, a retired Mathematics teacher also greatly helped her in her studies.
"I worked six to eight hours a day and I am happy with my results," said Supriya who too aspires to become a doctor. She scored 99 in Hindi and Science and 100 in English, Mathematics and Science.
On her success, Rohini R said, "I worked very hard, almost for three to four hours a day and gave all the subjects equal importance.”
She scored 99 in Science and 100 in Kannada, Hindi and Maths. She has plans to study electrical engineering.
Ruthvik S wants to become a successful cardiologist and with a scores like 99 in Hindi, 100 in Science, Mathematics and Social Science, he might have crossed his first step to achieve his goal. His parents Satish Chandra and Bhagyashree are euphoric about his achievement.
Another topper Rakshita Handral wants to take up architecture. Her advice for students to do well in their exams:“Do not stress out too much.” Besides studying five to six hours a day, she engaged in badminton and drawing. She scored 99 in Kannada and Mathematics and cent per cent in Sanskrit, Science and Social Science.
Individual subjects
Several students have scored the maximum marks in a number of subjects. As many as 364 students have scored 100 in first language, 157 students have got the maximum in second language and 202 students in third language, 643 in Mathematics, 34 in Science and 593 in Social Science, according to Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board.
Out of the 371 blind candidates, 313 passed their exams. Similarly, 134 hearing-impaired students too came out flying colours. A total of 771 physically challenged students and 383 persons with learning disabilities had appeared for their SSLC exams and of them 510 and 247 respectively have passed. There were many candidates aged above 40 who appeared for the exams and their pass percentage was dismal.
