This decision has been taken in the wake of declining Covid cases in the state. However, the virtual queue system will continue to be in place even if the number of worshippers has been increased.

Devotees at Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa temple will be allowed to perform neyyabhishekam offering between 7 AM and noon, said Devaswom Minister K Radhakrishnan’s Office.

According to a report published in the Times of India (TOI), the government has also decided to open a 500 room facility for devotees that was readied in Sannidhanam. However, only one person will be allowed in each room.

Strict Covid-19 protocols are being followed in Sabarimala, including a vaccine certificate or providing an RT-PCR negative certificate, taken within 72 hours prior to reaching Sabarimala.

Meanwhile, the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has been asked to conduct sanitization in each of the rooms as per the Covid-19 protocols.

Moreover, the traditional route from Pamba, passing through Neelimala, Appachimedu and Marakkoottam will be opened for devotees.

On the other hand, the revenue (Devaswom) department has also issued an order stating that all the relaxations will be withdrawn at once if any Omicron cases are detected among devotees or officials on duty in Sabarimala, TOI revealed in its report.

Meanwhile, the ongoing Mandalam-Makaravilakku season will continue till January 20, 2022.
