Hyderbad, April 12: Finally, Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik have tied the knot. The nikah ceremony of Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik concluded in Hyderabad.
"Sania’s nikah with Shoaib has concluded," said Sania’s PRO, adding that the reception will take place on April 15.
The Sunni Ulema Board had issued a fatwa on Sunday, thereby further adding to Sania’s pre-marital woes.
The fatwa claimed that it’s un-Islamic for a man and woman to live under the same roof before ’’nikah’’, and lashed out at the tennis star and her groom-to-be Shoaib Malik, who has been reportedly staying at the Mirza residence for over a week.
’’It’s un-Islamic for a man and woman to see each other during the ceremonies before the ’’nikah’’. Therefore, what they (Sania and Shoaib) are doing is not correct,’’ said Sunni Ulema Board General Secretary Hasibul Hassan.
Sania’’s father Imran Mirza had earlier on Friday said the pre-wedding ceremonies would start off from April 13.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik had on Sunday asked Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India Shahid Malik to request the Indian authorities to return Shoaib’s passport, which was seized after Ayesha Siddiqui claimed to be his wife and filed a police complaint against him.
Earlier, Ayesha had alleged that Shoaib married her over phone before dumping her without a divorce due to her weight problems. Shoaib initially denied the allegations and claimed that Ayesha duped him into a phone marriage by sending photographs of a different woman.
People who came across as well-wishers during her moment of crisis are turning tormentors for Pak cricketer Shoaib Malik’s first wife Ayesha Siddiqui. Reason: They think Ayesha made Rs 15 crore from her ex-husband Shoaib Malik and they want their pound of flesh.
"We are tired of people’s meanness. At a time when we are in deep sorrow because we don’t know how to pull our daughter out of depression, these people are harassing her. We are going through a bad phase," said a member of the Siddiqui family.
Shiraj Sareen Khan, president of the United Women Front, who had filed a suit with the State Human Rights Commission on Ayesha’s behalf, says she expects 10 per cent of the rumoured Rs 15 crore settlement for her crucial role in resolving the crisis.
Abid Rasool Khan, who headed the main team of negotiators, agreed with Babar. "Shoaib gave Rs 15,000 to Ayesha in keeping with stipulations of Islamic law. She donated this money. I don’t know where all this talk of Rs 15 crore is coming from. I am among the negotiators who are upset with the Mirzas and Siddiquis for being given the cold shoulder once the negotiations ended. However, I am against people trying to extort money.
Such blackmailers should be punished," said Khan.
Sonia Felicitates Sania-Shoaib, Celebrations Begin In Sania’s House
Congress president Sonia Gandhi has greeted Pakistan’s cricket star Shoaib Malik and tennis ace Sania Mirza who will be tying the nuptial knot soon.
Meanwhile, relatives and friends of Sania have started gathering at her residence where festivities are on with dance and singing rehearsals.
A delegation of Pakistani Parliamentarians including Federal Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan will be attending the wedding ceremony which is scheduled to take place on April 15.
Pakistani cricketers Salman Butt, Inzimamul Haq and Rashid Latif are also expected to show up at the big event.
Preparations for the wedding of Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik are in full swing as decoration work has begun at the bride’s house.
Tents are being set up outside Sania’s house for various rituals while roof and walls of the house are being illuminated with colourful lights.
The ceremonies in connection with the wedding of the two sporting stars will begin from April 13 (sangeet) and the reception will be arranged on April 15 at the Taj Krishna Hotel.
The mood of tension and anxiety prevailing at Sania’s house at Jubilee Hills for the past few days has now turned into that of celebrations with the arrival of relatives and friends.
The wedding invitations are being distributed and around 1000 guests are expected for the reception.
Shoaib’s mother, brother, sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew have already arrived in the city from Pakistan. Few more family members of Shoaib Malik are expected to arrive soon from Germany. The official celebrations would begin on April 13 with ’Sangeet’ ceremony in which all of Sania and Shoaib’s loved ones will perform.
On Saturday night, the two families played dumb charades and antakshari. Chinese cuisine one of the favourite of both the bride and bridegroom was made by Sania’s aunts and served for the dinner.
Sania was in the mood to have some bhelpuri but due to media’s presence outside the house, she had to remain content by eating it at home as her cousins and sisters helped her to get it from a local shop. The day ended with a usual strength of caroms with Sania’s mother Naseema and Shoaib hogging the limelight.
Shoaib Malik’s wedding outfit has arrived from Delhi. He will be wearing a ’sherwani’ made by Shantanu and Nikhil. Sania’s uncle Talat Aziz has graciously agreed to render ’ghazal’ for the ’sangeet’. All of Sania’s friends have just left after a tiring but fun session of dance rehearsals for the ’sangeet’.
