New Delhi, Oct 10, 2022: The judicial custody of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, who has been jailed for over two months, has been extended till October 17. Raut was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on August 1 over allegations of money laundering whichemanated from the Patrawala Chawl reconstruction that the Mumbai police’s economic offence wing had been investigating.
He was arrested afterover six hours of questioning in the Rs 1,034-crore Patra Chawl land scam case. The ED stated that Raut had helped the accused in committing the fraud and in exchange, Rs 1.06 crore wasdiverted to the Sena leader and his wife Varsha Raut through different methods.
Raut, who has been behind bars for over two months, reached the Mumbai sessions court for the hearing of his bail plea on Monday. A large number of his supporters turned up at court to see him.
