The case allegedly involving a Saudi Diplomat accused of sexually and physically abusing two Nepalese women could turn into a diplomatic row with Saudi Arabia protesting against Haryana Police raid at the residence of the diplomat and accusing him of rape.

Saudi Ambassador to India Saud Mohammed Alsati conveyed his unhappiness to the Ministry of External Affairs about the police’s action amid reports that the accused diplomat identified as Majid flew out of the country soon after the police registered a case accusing him of rape.

The MEA has asked for a detailed report on the investigation from Gurgaon police. Sources said the police will compile a report that will include the FIR, statements of the two victims to the police and to a judicial magistrate and medical reports that confirm sexual and physical abuse. The statement made to a judicial magistrate under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code is admissible as evidence.

"Further steps will be taken once the Ministry receives a detailed report from the local police," MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.
