The headmaster of a government school in Nagavi Taluk had organised an essay competition on Prophet, an event which was disrupted by right-wing activists.

Headmaster Abdul Hanif Bijapura had distributed free books about Prophet Muhammed titled ’Mohammed(s) Yelarigagi’ (Mohammed for all). He had also announced prize money of Rs 5,000 for children who excel in the essay competition.

But the Sri Rama Sene activists accused the teacher of trying to convert the students to Islam. They alleged that students were forced to learn about Muhammed, a topic which is not part of academics. The district education officer had warned the headmaster and promised the activists to take stringent action.
