Earlier, Advisor to Pakistan Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Zaman Gujjar, on a visit to the hospital, had found several decayed bodies on the roof of the hospital mortuary. He then ordered the cremation of the abandoned bodies and directed the health authorities to take action against the employees involved in the matter. He also constituted a six-member team to investigate the matter.

The six-member committee, which includes a professor of Nishtar Medical University, a senior medical officer, and two officers of Multan Police, have been asked to submit a report within three days. The committee will be headed by Additional Secretary Specialised Health Care Muzamil Bashir.

Meanwhile, a Nishtar Medical University student told Dawn that the bodies were being used for medical experiments by the students. He said the bodies were already used in the experiment and were placed on the roof to extract bones and skulls for further medical use.

Once the bodies were discovered, the hospital had issued a statement saying strict action will be taken against those responsible for the bodies found "rotting under the open sky", Dawn reported.
