Shahid Afridi rakes up Kashmir issue, calls India "oppressive"

Pakistan, Apr 03, 2018 : Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi raked up the Kashmir issue and called India “oppressive” in a controversial Tweet on Tuesday.

 

The all-rounder also called the situation in “Indian Occupied Kashmir” as “appalling and worrisome”.Afridi also asked as to why United Nations had not made any efforts to stop the violence.

In response to Afridi’s tweet, former India opener Gautam Gambhir posted a stinging reply of his own:

The Pakistani had earlier in 2016 created a huge furore with his comment that several Kashmiris were supporters of the Pakistan cricket team – a statement that was roundly slammed by BCCI.

But Afridi was also in the news recently when, during an exhibition tournament in Switzerland, he asked an Indian fan to show respect to the Tricolour and hold it the right side up.

The star cricketer does have the propensity for staying in the limelight – for the right as well as the wrong reasons.
