Mumbai, Jan 30, 2020: The Shiv Sena, in its editorial mouthpiece Saamana, has backed the central government over the action of Delhi Police against JNU student Sharjeel Imam, arrested from Bihar in a sedition case on Tuesday. In the editorial on Thursday, the party also advised Union Home Minister Amit Shah to "immediately finish insects like Sharjeel Imam".
"Sharjeel Imam wanted to take over chicken’s neck and divide India. His hands should be cut and kept on display at the chicken’s neck highway. Home minister Amit Shah should immediately finish insects like Sharjeel. But he [Amit Shah] should also stay away from indulging in politics in Sharjeel’s name," the Shiv Sena said in its editorial.
In Saamana, Sena said statements made by Sharjeel Imam had caused great damage to peaceful anti-CAA protests going across the country. "There have been protests all over the country against the new citizenship law, but no one has made any anti-national statements in this entire movement," the party said and added that remarks by the JNU student were not only inflammatory but also against the country.
"With people like Sharjeel Imam, BJP has got issues to raise ahead of [Delhi] election without doing anything," it said.
The Shiv Sena claimed that the social, religious unity of the country is almost gone. "There is a conspiracy to create a class struggle, endless chaos and civil war. Efforts are being made in a political laboratory," the Saamana editorial said.
To increase terrorism in the educated and upper class, political venom is being used, Sena said.
The Shiv Sena also asked the government to prevent such incidents in the future. "One Sharjeel Imam is arrested but no more Sharjeel Imams should be producedgovernment should ensure that. It their responsibility," Sena said in its editorial in Saamana.
