New Delhi, Dec 22, 2022: Aaftab Poonawalla, accused of Shraddha Walkar’s murder, withdrew the bail plea on Thursday before the Saket Court. The court dismissed Aaftab’s bail plea as withdrawn. Aaftab’s lawyer said that the bail plea was filed "due to miscommunication."

Poonawala, the main accused in the Shraddha Walkar murder case, moved Delhi’s Saket court on December 16, seeking bail. Poonawala was presented before the court through video conferencing.

The court on December 9 extended Poonawala’s judicial custody for 14 days. He is currently in judicial custody till December 23, and is lodged in Delhi’s Tihar jail.

Poonawala allegedly strangled Walkar (27) and sawed Shraddha’s body into 35 pieces, which he kept in a 300-litre fridge for almost three weeks at his residence in South Delhi’s Mehrauli before dumping those across the city over several days past midnight. Walkar was allegedly killed in May.

The duo met on a dating app in 2019 and then moved in together to Delhi after staying in Mumbai and their hometown, Vasai. Aaftab and Shraddha fought over household expenses, infidelity and other issues and their relationship was strained, police said.
