Silverwares worth Rs 39 lakh, belonging to film producer Boney Kapoor, seized in Davangere

Davangere, April 08, 2023: The Election Commission of India (ECI) seized 66 kg silverwares worth Rs 39 lakhs, allegedly belonging to Bollywood film producer Boney Kapoor, at the check post near Hebbalu toll on the outskirts of Karnataka’s Davangere in the wee hours of Friday.

 

The silverware was being transported without proper documents in five boxes in a BMW car from Chennai to Mumbai.

ECI officials seized silver bowls, spoons, water mugs and plates.

A case was registered at Davangere rural police station against Hari Singh, who was in the car along with driver Sultan Khan.

During investigations, it was found that the car was registered with Bayview Projects Pvt Ltd, owned by Boney Kapoor.

While probing, Hari Singh had confessed that the silverware belonged to Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor’s family.

Electoral officers seized silver articles for not producing relevant documents. They are also probing further if those silverwares belong to producer Boney Kapoor’s family.
