Mangalore Today / IndiaTV

Noida, Apr 12: Local social activists, with the help of policemen, on Tuesday broke open the doors of a house in Sector 29 here and rescued two sisters who had locked themselves inside for the last seven months after the death of their father a year ago, reports India TV reporter Raman Thakur.

House No. 326 in Sec 29 had been locked from inside for the last six months, neighbours said.

As social activists and policemen barged inside, they found Sona lying on a sofa, weak and unable to move her limbs, while her sister Sonalika locked herself up inside a room to avoid outsiders.

Water and power connections to the house had been disconnected due to non-payment of bills, neighbours said.

The two sisters have a brother who works with a multinational company in Bangalore.

The social activists led by Usha Thakur took both the sisters to Kailash Hospital, where they were admitted for treatment.

The two sisters were wearing winter clothes, had not taken a bath for months and were famished. Social activists said, the two sisters looked mentally upset.
