Soon a biography on Sree Narayana Guru in Arabic

Palakkad, Dec 19, 2020:    A biography on Sree Narayana Guru and published and unpublished works on his life and teachings, will be translated and explained in Arabic by Dr A V Firdouse.  Dr Firdouse says, “It is a comprehensive project. There are around 48 biographies of Sree Narayana Guru in Malayalam and English  including that of Kumaranasan. This biography will be brought out in a single, large volume of 3,000 pages in Arabic. It includes interpretations, Guru verses among other features that will be translated into Arabic.”

He said that there were 66 published works and 86 unpublished works of Sree Narayana Guru. All these will be incorporated in 10 volumes in Arabic over a two-year period.

The details of the life of Sree Narayana Guru have been collected after 20 years of research. Dr Firdouse is a native of Ottappalam in the district and well-versed in 13 languages. He said that 10 small ‘Kirthigal’ had already been translated into Arabic. In two years, he  intends to complete 11 volumes.

“I had gone to Kayalpattinam in Tamil Nadu in 1985 where I chanced to see the works of Sree Narayana Guru in Arabic and Urdu languages.

It was after this incident that I began to explore the connection between Sree Narayana Guru and the Sufis of South India,” said Dr Firdouse. P S Omkar, managing editor of Gurudevan monthly said that Firdouse regularly wrote for their magazine.  His articles on ‘Daivadashakam in the view of Sufism,’ was being carried for the last two years and was in the final phase.

For Sivarathri, we had brought out a article which conveyed the opinion of Sufis who accepted the teachings of Sree Narayana Guru about the ‘Sivasakthi’ concept. Dr Firdouse is a freelance writer and his articles are well-researched and informative, said P S Omkar.
