Srirangapatna: BBMP councillor, two others killed in car accident

Mandya, July 17, 2016: BBMP councillor Mahesh Babu, representing Lakkasandra ward, and two others were killed in an accident on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway on Sunday morning.

Mr. Babu and three others were going to Bengaluru to attend a RSS programme when the accident occurred near Gowripura near Srirangapatna.

Another car, coming from the opposite direction, hit the median, crossed the lane and hit Mr. Babu’s car, Srirangapatna police said.

At least three others from both the cars sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital in Mysuru. Both the vehicles were badly injured. Traffic was disrupted for a while following the accident.

Driver of the second car Kumar (40) , Suresh (38) and his.wife Bhavya (28), their children Subhash (9) and Dhanush (4) are recovering in a Mysuru hospital. They are residents of Thurahalli on Utharahalli Main Road in Bengaluru.

The other two deceased have been identified as Muda sheriff Ahmed (40) of Maratha halli and Balaji (45) of Bannerghatta.
