Bangalore, Jan 12 :An 18-month-old boy was mauled to death by a pack of dogs at Bagalur here today, sending shock waves among people and triggering demands for eradicating the menace of canines on streets.
The shocking incident occurred when Prashant, son of labourers of a brick kiln, was sleeping inside a temporary shed while his parents were working at the kiln.
The dogs dragged the infant out of the shed and mauled him to death, police said.
The cries of the child went unheard as there was loud music being played in the area. Moreover, the couple had reported to work allegedly drunk.
The body of the mutilated baby was found nearby.Prashant was the seventh child of the worker Sukhdev hailing from Orissa. The couple had a boy after the birth of six girls, the eldest of whom was 23-year-old, police said.
Last year, 3 children were killed and over seriously injured in different areas of Bangalore and Mysore.
