New Delhi, Jan 18, 2023: Bollywood actor Nora Fatehi, who recently turned witness in the Rs 215 crore extortion case against jailed Sukesh Chandrashekhar, on Tuesday recorded her statement in court. In her statement, which has been accessed by India Today, the actor claimed that the conman sought undue favour from her through his close aide Pinky Irani.
Nora Fatehi also claimed that Sukesh Chandrashekhar promised her a big house and a luxurious lifestyle if she agreed to be his girlfriend.
The actor claimed that Pinky Irani contacted her cousin and said that Jacqueline Fernandez was waiting in line for Sukesh’s offer, but he wanted Nora Fatehi. "Many actresses are dying to be taken care of by Sukesh," Nora quoted Pinky Irani as saying to her cousin.
"Initially, I did not know who Sukesh was. Later, I thought he used to work at a company called LS Corporation. I neither had any personal contact nor did I ever have any conversations with him," Nora Fatehi said in her testimony to court.
Nora also claimed that she came to know that Sukesh Chandrashekhar was a conman only when she was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Rs 215 crore extortion case.
"I had no clue about this and I never met him. The only time I saw him was when the ED confronted me with him at its office," the actress said in her statement.
Nora Fatehi’s recent statement came days after she appeared before Delhi’s Patiala House Court and recorded her statement in connection with the case. Her statement served as evidence and is now being treated as a witness in the case at hand.
The actor claimed she was a ‘victim’ in the case involving conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar and was not involved in money laundering of any kind. The ED, however, has accused Nora of receiving luxury gifts from the conman, including luxury cars, diamonds and bags.
The ED alleged that Sukesh Chandrashekhar gifted Nora Fatehi a BMW car in December 2020. But the actress has maintained that the car was given to her by the conman’s wife, Leena Maria, in exchange for participating in an event in Chennai.
Chandrashekhar, who is currently in jail, is accused of cheating many people, including high-profile individuals such as former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh’s wife Aditi Singh.
