Talks with Sonia were fruitful: Anna

New Delhi, July 2, 2011: Civil society member of the Lokpal Bill Drafting Committee Anna Hazare on Saturday met UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, along with Arvind Kejriwal.

Senior leaders Pranab Mukherjee and Janardan Dwivedi were also present at the meeting at Sonia Gandhi’s residence. The meeting was positive and fruitful, Anna and Kejriwal said.

"We placed our thoughts in front of her and told her what is the difference between our draft and the government draft and informed about the basic difference we have. She said she will think about these issues."

Anna, however reiterated that he will go on a fast again from August 16 if the correct Lokpal Bill draft is not tabled in Parliament.

But, Anna Hazare did not talk about his fast with Sonia Gandhi, said Janardan Dwivedi.

Arvind Kejriwal said that they told Sonia about 15 differences with the government’s draft, which Sonia assured will be discussed within her party.

Anna has been trying to garner support from all political parties ahead of the all-party meet on Sunday.

Earlier on Saturday, Kejriwal met TDP President Chandrababu Naidu in Hyderabad as part of Team Anna’s efforts to reach out to all parties.
