Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai to get Z-category security, 33 CRPF commandos to provide cover

Chennai, Jan 13, 2023: The Ministry of Home Affairs, after an intelligence report, has decided to beef up the security for Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief, Annamalai. Annamalai will be provided Z-category security and 33 commands will be deployed to protect him.
The Z-category security will be provided by the MHA, said sources. Annamalai was earlier provided Y-category protection. A group of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) commandos will provide security cover for the Tamil Nadu BJP chief.
The Tamil Nadu BJP president was accorded Z-category security by the Home Ministry in view of heightened threat concerns. The former IPS officer and Tamil Nadu BJP chief had allegedly received threats from Maoists and religious extremists.
After evaluating the threats received by Annamalai, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) report recommended that he be provided with Z-category security.
A total of 33 CRPF commandos will provide security for the Tamil Nadu BJP chief.
