At the beginning of the investigation, the police suspected it to be a case of honour killing given the caste differences of the victims and the manner in which both were killed. However, the details of the case started tumbling out after police arrested the tantrik and he confessed to having murdered the couple.

The deceased have been identified as Rahul Meena, a 30-year-old teacher, and 28-year-old Sonu Kunwar. According to the police, both Rahul and Sonu were married to separate people. Their families used to visit the tantric at the Ichchapoorna Sheshnaag Bhavji Mandir in Bhadavi Gudah and it is here that the two met.

Soon, the two got into a relationship, because of which Rahul started having frequent fights with his wife. His wife then sought the help of the arrested tantric, identified as Bhalesh Kumar.

According to the police, Bhalesh has been living here for the last seven to eight years and used to make amulets for people. The tantric himself had become close to Sonu, because of which he informed Rahul’s wife about the illicit relationship between Rahul and Sonu.

Soon, Rahul found out that the tantric told his wife about his and Sonu’s relationship. The two threatened the tantric of defaming him by filing a false molestation case. Fearing that he may lose the reputation he had built for himself over the years, the tantric hatched a plot to take revenge on them.

Police said the tantric bought about 50 tubes of superglue and poured them into a bottle. On the evening of November 15, he invited Rahul and Sonu to a secluded area in a forest and asked them to have sex in front of him.

According to police, when the two were in the act, the tantric poured the bottle of feviquick over them. Police said the tantric’s aim was to kill both of them when they were in the act so that when people found their bodies, they would be in an objectionable position and he would escape easily.

Police said after the tantrik poured feviquick over them, Rahul and Sonu were stuck to each other for quite sometime. In fact, police said, that in their attempts to pull away from each other, their skin started ripping off. Rahul’s private part was separated from his body and Sonu also sustained injuries to her private organs.

Police said during this time, the tantrik attacked both Rahul and Sonu. He slit Rahul’s throat and stabbed Sonu to death with a knife. He fled the spot after committing the crime.

Superintendent of Police (SP), Udaipur, Vikas Kumar said after the police found the bodies, they scanned the footage of 50 CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity of the area and rounded up around 200 people for questioning.

Based on the evidence found during the investigation, police suspected Bhalesh Kumar had a role to play in the death of the couple. He was taken into custody and during interrogation, he confessed to the murders.

The police produced him before a court, which remanded him in police custody for three days.

The police have found evidence of Bhalesh Kumar talking to the woman on his phone and will question him further in this regard. The police will also probe the angle of a love triangle in the case.
