Oct 29, 2015: Investigators in the Suraj Parmar suicide case have discovered that the four Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) corporators — accused of demanding bribes from the builder — have gone missing.
Sources from Kasarvadavli police station said Vikram Chavan of Congress, Najib Mulla and Hanumant Jagdale of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Sudhakar Chavan of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) are missing, and the cops have returned empty-handed despite raiding their residences on Monday and Tuesday nights.
They added that Joint Commissioner of Police J D Lakshmi Narayana, who is monitoring this case, is the primary reason why the corporators have gone missing. Sources said the Joint CP has investigated several high-profile cases like the Satyam scam and Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case in the past, and is known for being uncorrupt and bringing guilty to book.
Interim bail
Meanwhile, all four corporators applied for interim relief at the Thane Sessions Court on Tuesday. The hearing on the pleas of all four will be today.
The names of these four corporators were mentioned in a recent report from the Kalina Forensic laboratory, which scrutinised Parmar’s 15-page suicide note.
Parmar had erased the names from the note to protect his family from the corporators’ wrath. Meanwhile, five other TMC corporators were questioned by the police and their statements were recorded.
