Hassan:Nov 13, 2015: Former chief minister and JD(S) State president H?D?Kumaraswamy warned of a protest against both BJP?and Congress parties, if they waste time discussing Tipu Sultan’s birth anniversary and the Madikeri issues in the upcoming legislature session.
Addressing reporters after visiting the Hasanamba temple here on Thursday, he said the two parties?are playing selfish politics in the name of Tipu’s birth anniversary.
The national parties may waste the session discussing on the Madikeri issue and Girish Karnad’s statement, he charged. Condemning the parties, he said the national parties are disturbing communal harmony during Deepavali. Both the parties should take the blame for the death of three people, he said.
Kumaraswamy said, “What is the contribution of Girish Karnad has to the society? I?don’t know who gave him Jnanpith award. He tried to disturb peace when he was directing a movie based on Kuvempu’s work. Now, he has made a derogatory statement against Kempegowda.”
Farmers’ conference
More than 700 farmers in the State have committed suicide and JD(S) will offer a compensation of Rs 50,000 to each of their families.
The compensation will be provided at conferences to be organised in different parts of the State. In Hassan district alone, 48 farmers have committed suicide and former prime minister?and MP H?D?Deve Gowda will issue the compensation and motivate the farmers, he said.
Kumaraswamy urged the State government to solve the issues related to drinking water projects, Yettinahole and Mahadayi projects, etc. He asked the government to discuss the issues with people from both the regions to resolve them.
